Hello. I am a pug. I was

Hello. I am Agamemnon. I was born eight years ago. My dad and mom were champions among pugs. They even gave me a small tattoo to confirm my aristocratic lineage. My human insisted it was a prison souvenir – those were his jokes.

I grew up, and everyone loved me. In the grocery store, they always asked my human to leave me with them. But for some reason, he refused, even though they had way more sausages than at home. And on the street, everyone would ask me, ‘Who’s this pug? Who’s such a pug?’ And that pug was me, so I liked it.

But recently, everything changed. It became deafening at home for some reason. People continued saying some strange word: ‘War.’ To have peace, we hid in the basement. There were many people and dogs, and even cats, for some reason. But I understood that I was responsible for my human, so I was brave and never barked, just kept order. Oh, and I marked the shelter’s wall once.

And when it got really loud, my human and I went to a house where there were many people, two more dogs, and again, for some reason, a cat. Everyone in the house was sad, too, but I don’t know if it was because of the cat or because it got deafening there. And again, everybody talked about some war. But my human and I walked in the forest! It was great.

Once, it was loud right above us. I didn’t like it. Though, something bit me. Not too hard, but soon I felt bad. I didn’t even want to eat. Strangely, I only wanted to sleep. Then, my human took me in his arms and drove somewhere. We traveled for a long time, and again, something loud was around. People around me feared it; I was the only one who kept calm.

It turned out our trip was all for the doctors. I don’t like doctors – they always bother me. These bothered me, too. Then it got loud again, the clinic closed, and everyone left, talking about some rockets. That was strange. I never saw humans so afraid of something. People are generally interesting. They scratch your belly, throw you a ball, and give you something tasty. Of course, they are not pugs, but they are not bad either.

My human and I sat on the street, and he wrapped me in a scarf. I wanted to sleep. But for some reason, my human forbade me to fall asleep. He said striking things – if I stayed awake, he would buy me all the treats in the world. And we would walk for hours. And when we got home, I could even sneak onto the forbidden bed and check if any food was hidden there! He begged me not to fall asleep. But I was so tired. I wanted to lick his hand before sleep, but I couldn’t. So, I just looked at my human and finally fell asleep. Forever.

My name was Agamemnon. I was a pug. And everyone loved me. Take care of your dogs. Okay, fine, and cats. And people, of course.
